TONIGHT! Join us from 6pm to 9pm for Gallery Night at LnS to view “In the Company of Women: At Large,” which features a site-specific installation by represented artist yomarie silva-o’neal (@yomarie_silva_oneal) titled "A Crucial Kingdom."

As stated by o’neal with regards to the work, “My work focuses on the small forms in nature that are normally missed by the naked eye because of size and environmental camouflage. This series of ceramic sculptures are abstracted forms of fungi. I made a series of abstract drawings from images of fungus and lichen, allowing me to focus on the essential characteristics of their forms and function. I want to emphasize the relevance of the microscopic and underground systems on which all life depends and which the fungal kingdom is pivotal. Working in abstraction helps me explore and interpret mystery, encouraging my curiosity about form. The closer I look, the more abstract the form and image becomes. The marks I make with the clay are familiar and peculiar, evoking the organic. The fungi kingdom still holds mysteries for science, one that has yet to be fully explored and understood.” 
“In the Company of Women: At Large,” is curated by Dainy Tapia (@art.seen.365) and features 17 Miami-based female artists to showcase the contributions of women within the arts through a localized lens. The exhibition is accompanied by an LnS Gallery Journal, featuring “The Feminine Landscape,” a powerful essay written by Maritza Lacayo ( @maritzamelania ), Assistant Curator at the Perez Art Museum Miami. “In the Company of Women: at Large,” will be on view through September 3, 2022.
