Country Grammar: @laroolou X @openmarket.la
THE spot to go to for dessert in St. Louis is @teddrewes_frozencustard Famous for their frozen custard, they have been making memories for over 80 years. Ted drewes is a nostalgia bomb. Hot summer evening, neon lights, familiar flavors, big crowd all there for the same thing. It's an experience.
Ted Drewes is known for their concretes, thick frozen custard blended at high speeds and mixed with fruits, candy, cookies, nuts—you name it. Not too dissimilar from a Blizzard or McFlurry. Concretes have a similar thick, sludgy consistency of the building material and is often too thick to pull through a straw. You can literally flip the cup upside down and nothing would fall out.
@laroolou favorite flavor was the Dutchman, a concrete with chocolate, butterscotch and pecans.
For our collab, she flipped the Dutchman into a thiccc pie with a touch of Filipino grammar. The filling is a custard made with egg and condensed milk to give it that concrete like thickness. Chocolate and butterscotch is spread over the custard like mortar on brick. Dollops of whipped cream round out the pie. Topped off with roasted cashews and pinipig, a Filipino rice Krispy.
