After more than a decade of relentless poaching and habitat degradation and loss, our fears are confirmed. The global rhino population is declining. Numbers of black rhinos and Greater one-horned rhinos have increased but numbers of Javan and Sumatran rhinos in Indonesia remain frighteningly low. And a huge drop in the white rhino population has brought down the global total, resulting in a decrease of 3.7% since 2017. With poaching still a constant threat and changes in our climate increasingly pushing ecosystems to their limits, conservation activities aiming to save rhinos and the places they live are as important as ever. It's up to all of us to make sure we secure the space they need to help their numbers grow. We know that it’s not too late.
