#HappyHanukkah! On this #ThirdDay we’re traveling to Sosúa, a town in the Dominican Republic, where in this photo Jewish refugee children are performing a Hanukkah show in the 1940s. 🕎
In July 1938, the Dominican Republic took in a limited number of Jewish refugees and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee @jdcjoint formed an agricultural colony in the town of Sosúa for them, nurturing this new Jewish community during the war.

📸: This black and white photograph shows three long rows of children on a stage, surrounding a large wooden menorah and performing a Hanukkah show. There’s a large Jewish star on the back of the stage, and the children wear matching hats.
