Homemade Apple Pie🍎 follow @sweetportfolio for more fall recipes What’s your favorite fall dessert? Let me know and I will try to make your faves! ✨Ingredients: •8 Red apples •1 lime •1 cup brown sugar •1 tsp cinnamon •1/4 cup unsalted butter •1 tsp corn starch, dissolved in 1/4 cup water •1 9-inch pre-made pie crust •1 rolled pre-made pie crust •1 egg + 1 tbsp water, beaten (egg wash) •1 1/2 tbsp Turbinado sugar Thaw the pie crusts. Peel and cut apples into 1.5-inch cubes. Place inside a large bowl and add lime juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon; stir using a spatula. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and add apples. Cook while stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. Once the apples begin to soften and look darker, add the dissolved corn starch. This will thicken the mixture and create a caramel-like texture. Cook for 5-10 more minutes while stirring often. Set aside to cool down. Preheat oven to 425 F. Place apple filling inside crust (if there’s any leftover save for another recipe). Unroll the rolled pie crust over a cutting board and using a pizza cutter (or knife) cut vertical 1-inch thick strips. Place strips over the pie to form a lattice crust (see video for step-by step instructions). Optional: use remaining pie dough scraps to form shapes — roll into a ball and flatten using a rolling pin. Cut the shapes using a cookie cutter and place on top of the pie. If the dough shapes aren’t sticking to the dough, use a bit of water to adhere. Lightly cover in egg wash and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top. Bake for 15 minutes and reduce heat to 375 and cook for an additional 40. Remove from oven and cool for at least 4 hours. Serve and enjoy! . . . . — #applepie #desserts #pie #fallfood #falldessert #autumn #pumpkinspice
