Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing people say that we “just play with hair all day”?! ME TOO ✋🏼 For whatever reason people still think being a hairstylist is a fallback job. LIKE HELLO ITS 2022 people... this isn’t a job to get just because it “looks fun.” I’ve said this time and time again, but the people who think being a hairstylist is easy are SO WRONG. I love my job and look forward to going to work every day but that doesn’t mean it’s not hard. Not only do we have to keep up with the changing trends brought onto us by social media, we have to also invest in ourselves and our education to be able to deliver the services that clients are looking for EVERY TIME they sit in our chair. There’s no one size fits all hair color anymore and to be able to custom color each client takes thousands of hours or pure dedication and education. Not to mention we have to be our own social media manager to get the clientele we’re looking for! Oh.. and a photographer and videographer. If you’re someone who thinks that being a hairstylist just means playing with hair all day I challenge you to shadow a hairstylist in your area for just one shift, and I truly believe your mind will change about the way you look at this profession.
