A huge congratulations goes out to the BlackStar Alum featured in @filmmakermag's 25 New Faces of Independent Film list! 🎉 Five filmmakers who have screened at BlackStar Film Festival were selected, including one of our inaugural Philadelphia Filmmaker Lab fellows, Xenia Matthews (@glassdick). ⁠ ⁠ "Think of the '25' as a kind of geological survey, a dig into the new impulses, ideas and forces that will bring both new stories and new forms of storytelling to the surface in the years ahead," wrote Filmmaker Magazine about the New Faces of Independent Film. "Each person on this list made an impact on us.
