“Representation matters. I never knew these numbers before I entered this profession; but I sure felt it. When I looked around I saw no one like me, no one that looked like me. That’s honestly one of the moments I realized wow I’ve never seen a black provider. That was frightening and honestly sad to say. It wasn’t until I made this profile that I began to see other providers that looked like me. Boy, was that encouraging and EMPOWERING. I knew my purpose had only become bigger than me.
