As our country continued self-destructing these last few weeks, I haven’t posted much because our day to day lives seems trivial, but it would be rude to my hosts to not finally mention that this coming week in Malaga Spain, I am being honored at the @mosmamalaga -Movie Score Film Festival. Two nights of me, me, ME!! The first night (July 7th) is just me at the piano with wonderful singers from Spain singing songs from my movies and musicals. And then, on Sunday the 10th, a 60-piece orchestra will be diving into my film score history. Ninety minutes of one suite and/or song after another from WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, CITY SLICKERS, MISERY, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, SISTER ACT, SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE, THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT, THE FIRST WIVES CLUB, SIMON BIRCH, PATCH ADAMS, SOUTH PARK:Bigger, Longer & Uncut, DOWN WITH LOVE, MARY POPPINS RETURNS and HAIRSPRAY. If the orchestra, the conductor @arturoboscovich and/or I are still breathing at the end of a week of rehearsals and the actual performance, it will be a miracle. I will write with more details this week and after the big night(s). And I will save all my thanks for another post, for there are far too many people sweating over intricate scores of music and they each deserve individual hosannas! xo Marc
