visual narrative: Old but modern Barcelona portals, a 1970s mural by the artist Josep Maria Subirachs (Barcelona, 1927-2014). His vocation was architecture, which he could not study, and that is why his sculpture is so closely linked to buildings and public spaces. It was expressionist and abstract, but its best stage is the figurative, full of symbols (hands, faces, bodies and geometries, labyrinths, stairs, pyramids...). He used to displace figures, like the face in this doorway, creating molding in running lines. He signed almost all the murals in the General Óptica stores, including eyes, the GO logo and local motifs such as Las Meninas in Madrid or a bull in Pamplona. . His children today manage the @espaisubirachs in Poble Nou, a 300-meter gallery that exhibits sculptures, paintings and drawings by the artist.
