Today marks my 13th year doing burlesque! It sounds so wild to say! These years have been so magical and so meaningful. I’ve done so much (like being a Windmill girl in this video) and yet have much more to do-not even a broken ankle will stop me. I’ve had ups and downs and moments where I’ve wanted to quit cause I didn’t think things were happening for me but I still hung on because this artform has changed me life in more ways than one. I started doing burlesque for me and while I still do, I’ve turned my focus outward and I really want my burlesque to inspire and empower others, just has it has done and continues to do for me. In the spirit of trying to keep it brief....what’s next for me? Well, I hope many more years. Years of continued travel & performing in front of audiences who may not know Black burlesque is a thing, producing my own shows (chatting to a few folks right now), developing a burlesque course, expanding my burlesque beyond stages, and so much more. Ultimately though, I just want more people to see what I do and find inspiration, representation, empowerment and self love. Oh! I also want to use whatever platform I have to uplift others way more. I realise I don’t do that on my socials nearly enough🫣 Also, I’m still manifesting that someone give me a burlesque show on tv, dammit!
