The WSFF celebrates women in filmmaking, art, and photography within the surf community. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet renowned surfers, artists and NYC community leaders. The festival showcases diverse styles of storytelling, from established and emerging directors, producers, and filmmakers. As part of the ninth annual festival, the selections are aimed at highlighting the inspirational stories of female surfers and their ocean-related passion and journeys. ‘Femme Ocean’ (@femme_ocean) is one of the films that will be screened Friday September 9th at @therockawayhotel directed by @annikasyniva Female surfers break conventions on their way to cresting waves around the world. Femme Ocean profiles five women from Portugal, Morocco and Sri Lanka, who fell in love with a sport long dominated by men. They are pioneers, athletes, adventurers activists and artists and share a unique bond with surf and the sea. Ultimately, these surfers are testaments to the unique bond between women and the tides.
