At the Rose House: Green River Project and Object & Thing / The James Rose House, 1953, Ridgewood, New Jersey
.
James Rose was a midcentury iconoclastic landscape architect who — along with Harvard classmates Dan Kiley and Garrett Ekbo — rebelled against his Beaux-Arts training and ushered Modernism into 20th-century landscape design. His own home in Ridgewood, NJ, was his laboratory and most enduring example of his design philosophy.
.
It is in this spirit that @object_thing, an itinerant design exhibition organized by @abbybangser, collaborated with @greenriverprojectllc for this year’s installation. As with previous installations, it’s a guessing game of what’s old and what’s new — Green River Projects designed and made numerous custom pieces to occupy the Rose House, along with a number of other artists including @francespalmer, @eamesoffice, and @bode. The results, as always, is illuminating and enchanting. Book your ticket asap as it’s a short run this time. Congratulations @abbybangser @greenriverprojectllc @aa_aujla
