César Vargas and Vanessa Peñuela: “We wanted to tell the stories of the anarchist Cholas—members of the Female Workers Federation in La Paz, Bolivia—to bring the voices of these libertarian women into the present day. In the process of researching and creating the story, we felt a deep kinship with the struggles of these women—struggles that are as relevant today as they were in their time. We hope that their story serves as reference and inspiration in the continued work of new social movements in the global south. That current and future activists will consider this story as part of a great tradition of global transformation enacted by the people.”
