A half baked cake sits by my bed. I began this acrylic painting several years ago and never felt ready to add more. It’s of my family from a very blurry polaroid picture. There’s something about the light that makes me sad but also reminds me of home in the UK on an overcast day, which is how I remember home being a lot. I could make it sunnier but then it wouldn’t gel with my memories. So it sits until I decide if the cake needs glacé cherries, or whether the sun did poke out a bit that day in June many years ago. #england#homesick#teaandcake
