Green has a real monopoly on the St. Patrick's Day color scheme, but it's incumbent upon all of us to remember and acknowledge that there are three colors on the Irish flag: green (for the Catholics), orange (for the Protestants), and white (for the prospect of a lasting peace between the two). As a descendent of Scots-Irish Protestants, my heritage compels me to wear orange on St. Patrick's Day, since everybody else neglects it. For the same reason, while everyone else chugs shamrock shakes and green beer, I make the purposeful choice to seek out orange cocktails. It's only fair. . And this year I found my orange cocktail at @lovehourlosangeles, to the tune of the fantastic Night Nurse frozen highball. It's a deliciously orange blend of @chairmansreserveofficial spiced and @copallirum slushed together with passionfruit, pineapple, lime, and @aperolusa. And look, it even comes with a mint garnish and green-and-white straws. Doing my part to rep the Irish tricolor never tasted so good.
