SPOT the DIFFERENCE: One picture is from race day the other is from a pre ride 3 days before . Knowing the course goes a LONG WAY especially when there are pinch points or sand pits. . Quick story: Who likes riding with wet feet for 80 miles? On Wednesday before the race we went out to look at mile 55 to the finish. About 3 miles into that ride we found a pond crossing that was above bottom brackets. We scouted and found a longer way around through the woods, under some barbed wire to the other side of the pond that was rideable. So during the race the choice was get off and run through the water, ruin your drive train or use knowledge gained during recon.
