At 94, @mayemarilyn #MarilynMaye has more energy than most of us at 30. 🎤 Last night at @feinsteinssf, I felt like I was witnessing a priestess, weaving a spell with a deep love for her craft and very rare communication skill via song. It was like goin’ to church AND therapy all in one...walking out feeling uplifted and so very alive. Specializing in medleys 🎵, from Porter to Waller to Mercer, and ending with one that tore me asunder and broke down the flood gates, featuring James Taylor’s “Secret ‘o Life” and “Here’s to Life.” ♥️ Well, Marilyn sure feels like she has a right to dispense these wisdoms, and they emanate from such a place of truth, coming from her! Her most requested “Guess Who I Saw Today” and “It’s Today” from Mame were also highlights. BRAVA! 👏 👏 👏 If you’re free tonight, GO SEE HER FINAL SHOW this run, OR at @purpleroompalmsprings next weekend in #PalmSprings! She embodies some of the best qualities of #FrancesFaye, #ElaineStritch and #RosemaryClooney, yet she’s ALL her own! It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, where all time seemed to stand still, and everything outside our divine cloud just floated away, because she made each of us felt held by her. ⛅️ #JohnnyCarson sure knew something about singing and voices, as she appeared in his show 76 times! Surely few, if any from her generation are still performing at this level, and we must support this beloved art of cabaret. Local cutie, #DanielFabricant @fabricanfabricant was fantastic on bass! Her pianist, all the way from NYC was phenomenal and deft on the keys. Her drummer had a nice, apropos light touch. Thanks you Marilyn, and Feinstein’s!
