Hope you enjoy this Amanita muscaria ASMR. This is the “Fly Agaric” mushroom, it is common across the world because humans have spread it through planting non-native trees for the timber/lumber industry. It is a mycorrhizal species that grows often in association with conifers. It is toxic but not deadly toxic, containing ibotenic acid which can cause severe GI upset (🥴🤢🤮💩🤒). Ibotenic acid can be decarboxylated into Muscimol a LEGAL dissociative sedative that in small doses can help with sleep, but in larger doses can cause disorientation, delirium, or even put you into a coma. You can turn this into an edible mushroom by boiling twice (>10m in a large volume of water) to dilute out the toxin. Still, be very careful because some other Amanita species are deadly toxic no matter how you prepare them. In an area with hundreds of these mushrooms, I cut up one to demonstrate the texture and because I enjoy the sound. Within minutes the scraps were swarmed by hungry slugs snacking on the leftovers.
