One of my top three biggest regrets in life is not treating my parents better as a teenager and young adult. Not listening to them more instead of thinking I knew better. Not empathizing with their immigrant struggles instead of complaining and nitpicking everything they did as parents. Not finding ways to sacrifice and love them instead of always expecting them to drop everything for me. Not pausing to hear their story instead of trying to distance them from mine. As time has gone on, my appreciation for my parents only grows. I aim to block off intentional time to hang w them, ask them questions, invite them and their advice into my life. Loved taking my mom to one of her favorite meals, clam pasta in white sauce. During this meal, she shared about her early struggles in motherhood as well as her ambitions and dreams for her future.
