It comes at a hard time that we write this post, we have lost the puppy in the images above due to Parvo 😭 RIP Foster ❤️ Foster was a young German Shepard puppy who lost his life to negligence and exposure to parvo. ❣️The Labelle Foundation has taken in 12 parvovirus puppies and dogs in the last month.❣️Of those 12, thankfully 11 have survived but we fought hard for their chance to live and are still fighting. Donations are always appreciated as we fight for these dogs’ lives. Canine parvovirus (parvo) is a highly contagious viral disease that can produce an often life-threatening illness in puppies and dogs. Puppies and adult dogs who are not vaccinated are at risk of contracting the virus. ❤️‍🩹Parvo disease is spread from dog to dog mainly through exposure to contaminated feces. It can also be spread through contact with contaminated objects such as hands, clothing, food and water dishes, toys, bedding, floors, and shoes. Unvaccinated puppies can catch Parvo from being exposed to shedded parvo on the street. !!️We wanted to make a longer education post to raise awareness around the deadliness and cost of this virus. People often don’t understand how serious and dangerous parvovirus can be. This is why we put dogs in foster before adoption to ensure they are not sick. We require all fosters to keep unvaccinated dogs in their homes or personal backyards. The risks associated are too serious to take any chances. Backyard breeders, puppy mills and craigslist sellers are often adopting puppies out, known or unknown, with parvovirus. Adopt safe and vaccinate your dogs!!!️
