Well this was a surprise treat!! Phyllida Barlow exhibit right across the street from me in the Arts District @hauserwirth building!! Thanks so much to @jobaringart for the post because I would have never known this was happening right next door. If you have a chance get down to the arts district and have a look, it’s not every day we get to see her work this side of the Atlantic. And also check out @sculptinglives if you’d like to know more about Phyllida and many other female contemporary sculptors, it’s a truly fabulous podcast. The exhibit itself is pretty special, so much personality and tactile, unsteady fascination. I love the materials she uses, particularly the gray “sails” made seemingly out of painted plaster bandage (my makeup Fx nerds will know just what I mean).
