22 years ago, and now almost 23 You made the best decision of your life And that was having me 22 years ago, and now almost 23 I met who would become my best friend, my father, and my hero all in one 20 years ago, and now almost 21 You taught me how to ski and showed me how it’s done A couple faceplants later, and some jackasses who needed a shove 20 years later, I’d say I’m the lucky one 12 years ago, and now almost 13 You taught me how to surf On your very home turf I’d say I was a natural But who could blame me? I learned from the best And I love you for the rest 7 years ago, and now almost 8 You watched my gymnastics dreams fade I can even remember the date You told me not to worry, because you would always be proud And 7 years later, im even stronger somehow 6 years ago, and now almost 7 You watched me drive away in a car you might have found on eBay You were a scared dad, as one should be But I’ll never forget, the trust you had in me 4 years ago, and now almost 5 We got our first tattoo together And said “we’ll have these till we die” A little ironic, don’t you think? The place that took you, is now written all over our tattoos 4 years ago, and now almost 5 I watched you marry my stepmom Who would be the love of your life 2 more little sisters and 2 dogs later I’d say we had it pretty good As we knew we should 2 years ago, and now almost 3 COVID hit the world, but not for us hehe We made the most of the worst And had a blast in seaside You took our friends in, and maybe let some things slide 11 months ago, and now almost a year I graduated college without shedding a single tear You knew where I was headed And believed in my big dreams I know you’d be proud dad, Hollywood is more than what it seemed 2 months ago, and now almost 3 I had to say goodbye to the first man who ever loved me It was all of a sudden and it’s been really hard And I’m still not really sure how we’ve made it this far But I still hear your voice and I miss your laugh And I can still see you dancing, which breaks my heart in half You were so proud of your kids, but we were more proud to be your kids Ill always love you more Till I see you again Cheers Rasta man
