Chatting with a friend recently, I realised how ingrained and paralysing the idea of ‘excessive’ sweating can be. We both remembered moments in our teens and early twenties where showing signs of sweat was one of the most embarrassing things that could happen. And we both laughed about how we could/would never wear light grey tops, because it showed sweat marks easily. Now I care a lot less about that stuff and I put a lot of trust in my @dove deo.
But it got me thinking that when we talk about our underarms as women, there’s so much more shame linked to it than just sweating. We’ve been told that they always need to be smooth, without even the hint of a shadow, we shouldn’t wear light grey tops just in case we sweat and of course your underarms can never have discoloration. Don’t get me wrong, Dove deo does tackle all of those things but how great is it that we have the choice to care about these things or not.
Shave, or don’t shave, it’s up to you! My underarms aren’t always perfectly smooth because let’s be honest, it’s a mission and I do still feel societal pressure to look a certain way. But I really do admire those that can withstand that pressure! And another thing, wear what you want! Even if there might be sweat patches, just wear it! But if it is a worry for you, there’s Dove deo.
Do you have any embarrassing sweat moments/stories?
