Here are three collages from The Venusians by Ryan M Pfeiffer + Rebecca Walz. These collaborators live and work in Chicago. (There is a weird conduit between Chicago and Berlin, and this show attests to this phenomenon.) For nearly a decade, they have together probed prehistoric and ancient art, historical erotica and archeo-anthropology in an exercise to synthesize concerns about sex, death, myth and transformation. They view the act of collaboration as a dissolution of their individual identities and union of oppositions as a new third-mind. It’s good stuff, and Gysin and Burroughs would no doubt approve.
