Call it what it is because life is sacred. Because no matter how idiotic and surreal these people look, they are the manifestation of very real white privilege in our country. Call it what it is because this isn't just our little phones shining with memes and images of sad white people posing for selfies while blatantly parading their racist ideologies. Call it what it is because anything else is agreeing with hundreds of years of excusing white men as boys and executing brown boys as men. Call it what it is because we're done with these unimaginative fckers emboldened by a sick online culture that acts as an echo chamber for their delusional origin story. These social platforms are powerful and confused. They've helped to spur on our plastic "me" culture that undermines the imaginative work of building a better world. Isn't it telling that when these lost terrorists entered the capital their phones were raised in "heil selfie"? Call it what it is because building is a hell of a lot harder than destroying and protests take work and dedication and this bullshit was just another sloppy ungrounded white terrorist action not being taken seriously by white cops because they knew they weren't the target - the brown people trying to create a better world are. Call it what it is because our society has been poisoned for hundreds of years from a partially processed history and to call it anything else is to further delay our reckoning.
