When you live in South Africa and your quick trips are now to places like Egypt 😍 📍Cairo 🇪🇬 Egypt On my way to Europe from South Africa, I got to pop into Egypt for a minute. If I’m honest, Egypt has not been high on my list of places to go for a while, so I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I can’t speak for the whole country, but the city of Cairo was breathtakingly beautiful. The culture, the views, the history, the food - everything was enough to convince me that I need to come back again - for longer next time. It was an indescribable feeling to walk the grounds of sites I’ve only read about in history books and to learn first hand about some of the most ancient teachings, beliefs and practices. I still have so much more to see and do here but here’s what I did in a few hours: 👉🏾Visited the great Pyramids of Giza 👉🏾Took a horseback ride to view all 9 pyramids 👉🏾 Visited the Sphinx and mummy embalming site 👉🏾 Visited the Papyrus museum (really cool experience) 👉🏾 Ate delicious Egyptian favs bean falafel and sipped hibiscus juice Other things I didn’t do but you can: 🤙🏾 Eat breakfast by the Nile river 🤙🏾 Eat lunch at 9 Pyramids lounge 🤙🏾 Visit the pyramid of Sahure (apparently more interesting) It cost about $50 USD round trip from the airport to the pyramids of Giza - which were about 40 minutes away. The sphinx is not far from there and neither is the museum I visited. Do it with or without a guide, however if you’re short on time, it may be better to have someone with you and pay one price for the day - to save on finding taxis! Been to Egypt? Where was your favorite part?
