Wow! I canNOT believe it’s been a year since I broke my whole ass ankle in two places!!! I remember crying uncontrollably in the ER, not cause of the pain initially but because the doctor told me I broke it and that I would need emergency surgery and that I’d be out of commission for months. I thought my entire life was over since everything I do and love involves movement and a lot of it. And I thought that even if I recovered I’d never be the same again...EVER! (Mind you I’d never broken anything up until this point nor have had surgery of any kind). I have to say that, looking back at all these photos and videos, I am in awe of myself. I can’t believe all the shit I did while recovering and I can’t believe that I made it through all of this & hopefully came out stronger. I had my moments of sadness and anger but I pushed myself to try to look on the bright side and to make use of my time. I spent more time with friends, I worked on costumes, I watched a lot of movies, I made content, I exercised and when in was ready to get that boot off I went slowly back to performing. While I am amazed how I strong I managed to be during all of this, I couldn’t have done it without so many people. My family, my job, my surgeon, my physical therapists (who I still see), @lulu_depina and her studio @westadamspilates for helping me work out even when I couldn’t walk, @cubanmissilecrisis for driving me around & being supportive during the first month even when I shouldn’t have left the house. Rynie Wreckless, @rextheimpossible @gingerleevalentine and all my other homies for being super supportive and uplifting. @jillianschmitz @princessofhollywood @koraorganics and others for sending me care packages. All the producers like @missdonnahood @audreydeluxe @nina_bel_vande and others, who booked my barefoot burlesk. The photogs who worked with my boot leg 🤣 Extra special shout-out to @hottestclownaround @freyawest and @thebionicbicon for being in the broken ankle crew and talking me through things and reassuring me. It’s been a whole year, my memory is terrible so if I didn’t shout-out anyone in particular, I’m sorry. A big thank you to everyone who helped me even thru IG🙌🏾
