Happy Father’s Day, pops! Right now you’re in a hospital bed at home while in hospice care. I’m grateful that we’ve had you for 89 years but it breaks my heart knowing that you are struggling with your health. I know losing mom was super hard for you, especially after 55 years of marriage. Ever since she left us, it’s been a downward spiral for you and your health. You’ve survived two open heart surgeries (14 years apart), you suffer from kidney disease, diabetes, and now congestive heart failure. It’s been quite an emotional roller coaster as we watch your health decline, but I’m just thankful that I’ve gotten to take care of you over the last 4 months. As emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausting it may be at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s now our turn to take care of you just as you did for us.
