“Why are you still there?" ... Many people question me about my role at MUPR with the intention of pointing out that, according to my academic and professional background, I must “be in other places”. We judge that intelligence is not suitable for spaces where beauty is a tool to propel change, since we imagine it for less glamorous contexts. However, being multifacetedly brilliant is not only possible, but necessary. That's why I'm still here. Working with @ashleyanncarino , a lover of STEM initiatives and an aerospace engineering student, confirmed two essential points once again. First, despite what is said, this type of competition is NOT about being the most beautiful woman in the universe, but rather about being CONSEQUENTIAL. Second, that if the less glamorous development contexts were as encouraging to women as the #MissUniverse platform is, the global community would deeply benefit from the action of beings who in face of fear are capable of acting for a better world. We’ve got our own and we go #ConCariñoAlUniverso 🇵🇷 #TransformationalLeadership #MissUniverse2022 • “¿Por qué sigues ahí?” Muchos me cuestionan sobre mi rol en MUPR con la intención de señalar que, según mi trasfondo académico y profesional, debo “estar en otros lugares”. Juzgamos que las inteligencias no son aptas para espacios en donde la belleza es una herramienta para impulsar cambios, pues las imaginamos para contextos menos glamurosos. Sin embargo, ser multifacéticamente brillante no solo es posible, sino necesario. Por eso sigo aquí. Trabajar junto a Ashley, amante de las iniciativas STEM y estudiante de ingeniería aeroespacial, me volvió a confirmar dos puntos esenciales. Primero, que a pesar de lo mucho que se dice, este tipo de competencia NO es sobre ser la mujer más bella, sino sobre ser CONSECUENTE. Segundo, que si los contextos de desarrollo menos glamurosos fueran tan alentadores con las mujeres como lo es la plataforma Miss Universe, la comunidad global se beneficiaría aún más de la acción de seres que ante el miedo son capaces de actuar por un mundo mejor.
