Reminder: take a moment to breathe 🧘🏾‍♀️ 📍Paphos, Cyprus (Edro III Shipwreck) I am a sucker for stories from times before I existed. I love to read about the people (both good and bad) who lived before me, their experiences and the things they endured. So, when I heard there were some abandoned shipwrecks in Paphos we could explore, I was super excited. How long has this ship been abandoned at sea? Who was on this ship? Where were they going? What happened? Did they survive? So many questions as I prepared to read about an incredible tale of survival against the odds... This is Edro III. A cargo ship built in 1960s Sierra Leone by the Albanian. The story starts out exciting, however, it turns out this ship only wrecked in 2011 🥲 when it was travelling from Limassol, Cyprus to Rhodes and ended up on the ground. The crew of 9 (7 Albanians and 2 Egyptians) survived and the ship was never removed due to the difficulty of removing it. No one is allowed on the ship for safety reasons (but maybe some are brave enough to do it. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Either way, the story is giving underwhelming 😔 and my inner explorer was truly unsatisfied 😪 but maybe next time I’ll explore a more exciting shipwreck with a better story 🥹.
