The career of a hairstylist 20 years ago (speaking from personal experience) is drastically different from today. Starting out, I had days filled with all types of guest appointment-short haircuts, long haircuts, grey coverage, foil highlights etc. My days were scheduled for me and specializing in a particular area wasn’t really an option. Fast forward to today, hairstylists specialize in everything from extensions to lived in color. I love seeing how our industry has evolved and grown and I can’t wait to see how much we as hairstylists will continue to elevate and change in the years to come.
