This piece starts with bamboo, then gets all mythological. David tells the tale about how the bamboo plant’s purply-brown shoots grow 1.5 inches per hour as these multi-layered little phalluses. He equates it to love, desire, and a little violence. (Bamboo torture, anyone?)
