Little dump but man this weekend was transformative!! Thank you so much to Young Labour for allowing my talkative ass to be on a panel to discuss activism, BLM and racial capitalism at the annual Labour conference. Thank you to @mylifemysay for creating an event and allowing us to ask the “leader” of the opposition about some of the challenges that young people are facing today.⠀ ⠀ Secondly @theworldtransformed was amazing. A few days of fun, music and political education! Like guys the education I received on topics like successful organising, kill the bill (shout out to Gracie from Liberty and traveller activist Lois Jones especially), direct action, abolition, climate education etc was just 🤯⠀ ⠀ It has really made me fall in love with Brighton all over again 🥰⠀ ⠀ •••••••••••••••••••••••••• ⠀ On another note let me be real with y’all, this party is a MESS, we are not doing enough at all. People are RIGHTFUL quitting left right and center, all these suspensions, major UNIONS disaffiliated. It’s the authoritarian nature for me...I joined the party at 15, cancelled (still debating currently) and reinstated several times. We need to have more of a backbone and demand change from the party - real change i.e. adopting more socialist values. Also ‘friends of the police’ really??? In the Labour Party we need more safe spaces: a normalisation of accountability culture so we can address oppressive behaviour that occurs within the party, correct it and move on. We are suppose to be a party for the people, we need bloody better. Instead of waging war on the left we need to provide a real opposition. PERIOD. ⠀ P.s. it’s the last slide for me 💀💀😩
