Pictured here are his personal favorites from a collection of Heroes of the Blues and Early Jazz Greats trading card sets by famed cartoonist Robert Crumb, who paid homage to the pioneers and legends of the genre, including Louis Armstrong, Mary Lou Williams, Skip James and Blind Willie McTell. Basquiat, in turn, immortalized these trailblazers, whom he considered as his personal Black heroes, in many of his paintings and drawings.
