[1/2] Creating art out of love has to be the most interesting, beautiful, and vulnerable space I’ve ever put myself in. Growing up around a relatively small town in Arkansas, I think I felt all that love had to offer me to the maximum level that I could. However, with each relationship, I always found myself wondering what it was like to have that “love at first sight” moment, that “I’m obsessed with you” feeling, or really just to understand how people could make songs, write books, or create movies based off of love. To me, I didn’t get how love could be strong enough to make people do all of that. And I just grew to convince myself that those situations I wondered about weren’t reality. But it wasn’t until one night in Denver where this guy walked up to me at a concert, smiled, and said, “I love your hair,” to cause my entire life trajectory to change in that moment and bring everything I ever wondered right to the forefront. It’s crazy to think that after all this time, that’s all it took. But, to me, love is supposed to be disruptive. It’s supposed to halt, shift, and change everything and every plan you thought you had laid out for yourself. And whether love visits you for a temporary window of time or permanently, it’s what changes and expands every layer of us. That’s part of the magic of it, right? The video you just watched was filmed on a random day in Hawaii when @hankhawkins and I were feeling creative. When it came to bringing this project to life and deciding to use clips from this day to put all of this together — I wanted people, especially those of my generation, that watched the video to experience that nostalgic feeling. Much like how you feel when you see film, listen to an old song, or watch a home video. Which is why I chose this particular song from the 90’s. I created 8 new presets that have been developed ever since meeting @hankhawkins a year ago. I’ll be releasing previews this entire month, showing you all how much hard work (and love) went into this project.
