“Songkran Devi” This Thai national costume was inspired by the Songkran Lady of 2023 named “Kimita Devi”, who is one of the 7 goddess daughters of King Kabilaprom and a symbol of Songkran festival. The pattern of the dress was inspired by traditional “Flowing Water” hand-woven fabric of Thai craftsmanship and handicrafts. To enhance modernity, the dress was embellished with embroidery, beads, crystals, sequins and discarded bottles. This dress is complemented by a silver bowl made by Thai skilled craftsmen. Silver bowls are used to pour water on the hands of elders, splash water during the festival, as well as for everyday use. This showcases the way of life, culture, tradition and local wisdoms that are refined and creative. It also builds careers for locals and communities.
