David Parker has said he began writing the film The Big Steal (1990) after meeting a few old-fashioned car dealers like Gordon Farkas, while trying to buy a new car. This scene starring starring Ben Mendelsohn as Danny and Steve Bisley as Farkas is memorable for many Australians who watched Nadia Tass' teen comedy in the early 1990s.
