She's an expert at sending epic voice messages while walking home at night, writing labyrinthine emails in the U-bahn on her way to rehearsals, and choreographing a piece while choreographing another piece while composing a soundscape while writing poetry. As she pauses to discuss a plurality of ongoing projects, it becomes obvious that her research on messy polyphony has fully infiltrated not only her art but her everyday life as well. Way beyond harmonizing chaos, she articulates her multiple performative practices into prismatic support structures. I think it offers a tiny glimpse into the multi-layered process you’re currently busy with. Tell me about this work and how it came to be. Veza: „Behind my four walls, I call you my friend“ is a work that has been accompanying me for 3 years. It started as a vision, a problem, or an idea. I had this realization that sometimes when I'm trying to say something, I don't always find the direct way of saying it. And so, I started to ask myself why. And the first thing I felt was “Ah, I'm ashamed that I cannot be clear”. The second thing I felt was “Oh sometimes it's fun to make it not so clear, it's more poetic”. And finally “ah sometimes I'm scared of the consequences of what I'm saying, depending on who is listening”. And I thought that it was very stimulating to think between these 3 lines, to multiply narratives.
