13 years ago I left South Carolina with stars in my eyes. Delusional & driven. Excited by everything and everyone I encountered & completely convinced that at some point I was going to shed all I was taught to believe and become a real singer. In this video I had just been offered to sing in the lobby of this hotel that’s just a few blocks away from Madison Square Garden, & even the proximity was enough to make me believe I had truly made it. I’m so in awe of the younger version of myself. Broke, aimless, eager, desperate, driven & relentless. I’m gonna walk by those steps today and remember all the pure love and excitement & hold it with me. Tonight I’m gonna be singing with my brother @kygomusic at @thegarden and I am so happy for the kid in this video that only dreamed of such a thing! See y’all tonight nyc!
