Today is my birthday. I’m 32 years old and I want to spend a moment saying something very important to me. I’ve spent my whole life inherently against the grain. It’s a life that chose me. Because although compassion, care and love for humans isn’t the easier path, or one that doesn’t come without a lot of back lash, it is at its core who I am. I LOVE to make people feel understood and beautiful. But that doesn’t mean people will accept it. Yesterday I posted a photo, asking for people to not gender assign or assume any of the clients I post on this platform. I lost over 400 followers, and the comments that got the most likes and engagement were the ones that were fueled with hate for my polite ask. I didn’t place blame or shame on anyone. In short, I asked for the audience I have gained on here to respect and care for the people I post, as much as they have for me and the work I do, and it was met with a lot of commentary that I didn’t realize my following possessed. While watching these reactions were heartbreaking, not for the sake of myself, but for the sake of the persons I am representing in yesterdays message, I woke up today and decided that the last thing I want to to do is let up on this extremely important subject. And as the universe delivers, so were these stickers today. I would rather lose my entire audience on here than be intimidated out of making my people feel understood and cared for. Today I celebrate my birthday saying good bye to those that don’t understand my resilience, saying hello to those that do, and embracing all those that get it, embody it, and those that are TRYING to understand these subjects.
