THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS: RICK RUBIN EXPLAINS ON THE HUBERMAN LAB PODCAST On the newest episode of the Huberman Lab podcast I discuss creativity with the one and only @rickrubin — one of the most creative and celebrated music producers of all time. Here I asked Rick whether it is important to be in a specific emotion such as happiness or sadness, in order to tap into creativity. His answer was that attention and presence are the most important factors. So in that sense, it depends whether or not the emotions you are experiencing bring you closer to the work or make you more distracted. During the episode, we also discussed ways to achieve better focus, limit distractions, and access what Rick refers to as “the source” — which is where creativity for all things stems from and is part of. Rick has a new book out tomorrow called “The Creative Act: A Way of Being”. I’ve read it and it’s phenomenal. Indeed, it has shaped my daily routines in many ways.
