🍩'For James'🍩 . When I wrote 'For James' I wanted to create a record that James Dewitt Yancey aka J Dilla would maybe have picked to sample. Melancholic and bouncy. . I remember buying Dilla's last record 'Donuts' on the 10th of February, 2006. The album's release day and only 3 days after Dilla's passing due to a long struggle with lupus. I wondered why somebody at the record shop had written R.I.P. on the sleeve. After some research on the web (information wasn't travelling as quickly back then) I discovered the tragic news. The incredible music, the circumstances and some Jamaican rum kept me up till dawn listening to the record on repeat. Thank you James for the music❤ Out now on @plygrnd_music .
