I had the honor of creating the opening for the 2021 Lortel Awards. * The idea came about once I stepped back into the Al Hirschfeld for the first time, eight months after the shut down. The Theater was a time capsule. A ruin that was cursed and awaiting for the spell to be broken. The atmosphere was eerie and emotional as I stood in a cold grey place that was once hot with color and energy. As the memories flooded my mind, I felt that a piece of my soul was left in the theater that day. This was the inspiration to be used for this opening. A sense of rebirth as the light at the end of the tunnel grows brighter. * As difficult as this time has been, this piece was designed to imagine that spark of when we can all be back on stage together. Yes it has been tough and painful but you’re not alone.
