On September 28, 2022, the Biden-Harris Administration will host a White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. This conference will be the first major event of its kind since 1969, and it will bring together leaders from across sectors to talk about how to end hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030.
When you think of New York City, you think of the hustle and bustle of the city. But what you might not think of is that there are many people who struggle to find food and access to healthy meals. In fact, nearly 2 million New Yorkers face food insecurity.
That's where GrowNYC comes in: we're dedicated to making sure that everyone has access to good food, regardless of their income level or zip code. We do that by building community gardens, distributing produce through our Fresh Food Box program, providing free nutrition education, and promoting the use of nutrition benefits, incentive coupons, and over-the-counter (OTC) benefit cards at our markets.
GrowNYC is proud to be a partner in getting fruits and vegetables where they are most needed: everywhere. We know that when New Yorkers have access to good nutrition, they are healthier, happier—and more productive.
