It’s not surprising that there is often a little nervousness for the client, ‘can you cater for my skin tone?’ ‘YES!’ The question saddens me because it is asked due to previous failings from white makeup artists. It is UNACCEPTABLE to ask ANY client to bring a foundation or concealer because you don’t have any deeper skin tones in your kit. You can not just buy the darkest shade and a lighter shade and then mix them together (I have heard this happen a lot). If you don’t have much experience working with those with deeper skin tones then go and practice. Pay for a model if you have to.
