The SF Symphony is saddened at the passing of former Associate Concertmaster Jorja Fleezanis. A member of the Orchestra from 1980 to 1989, she went on to serve as Concertmaster with the Minnesota Orchestra, making her only the second woman to hold such a position in a major US orchestra. She also premiered notable works written for her by composers including John Adams and John Tavener and taught widely. Her music making and mentorship will be greatly missed.
