The actual cottage in the film, where Cameron Diaz falls in love with Jude Law, is a fake—a specially built shell that was constructed in a field near Shere in Surrey, with its interiors created on a sound stage in Hollywood. The owner, designer Bee Osborn (@osborninteriors), said: “I had never heard of the film, but one day I took a photo of my cottage in the snow and posted it on Instagram. It went completely viral, with thousands of people commenting that it was the one from The Holiday. Eventually my daughter sat me down and made me watch the film.” Nancy Meyers, the director of the movie, even got in touch and told Bee that if she ever made a sequel, they would have to use her cottage! It is not hard to understand the fuss.
