Ever since I saw a photo of this place, I knew I wanted to go here. It took me a long time to find out where it was though but eventually I randomly came across it on Google Earth when I was looking at all the different lakes in Washington’s backcountry and realized that was the lake I had been looking for. I got super excited at first until I looked up reports about it and everything about it talked about how crazy and gnarly and insane it was 😳 So I thought maybe I wasn’t ready for it. So I waited a year and then last week I remembered how badly I wanted to see this place. So me and the always down @wanderingconner decided to send it. And man... I can’t even describe the feeling of seeing this place with your own eyes for the first time. Photos of it are beautiful but nothing will beat seeing it with your own eyes. The scale of this king of a mountain is just insane. And just how it towers over 2000 feet above this incredibly blue and perfectly circular lake is so beautiful ✨ And to be honest I didn’t find the hike nearly as crazy as what I had read. Yes it was super overgrown, yes we crossed over the sketchiest bridge I’ve crossed, yes it had a long steep section that was like climbing Old Mailbox, yes that part was hard with 40 pound packs, and yes it was a pretty easy trail to fall on as @wanderingconner did about 3-4 times... but I actually kinda enjoyed the challenge of the hike. It actually made it kind of fun for me. It felt like a true adventure to me. But who knows... maybe I’m crazy 😅
