I am grateful to accept the MLB National League’s Comeback Player of the Year Award. Everyday is a blessing, especially when you get to do what you love the most. I was able to play in the MLB for over two decades, a wonderful time that led to inexplicable experiences and allowed me to meet special people on and off the field. If you had asked young Albert, an innocent young man from the Dominican Republic, what Baseball meant to him the answer would be the same as it is today. Baseball means sportsmanship, dedication, and perseverance. I had a difficult start to my last year in Baseball but I was not going to give up. Long hours of praying and support from my loving family, friends, teammates, and Baseball fans all over the world gave me the push to persevere. This Thanksgiving Day I want you to reflect on what is important to you and get that push to be better and get yourself up from any situation in life, I know it is not easy but it sure is worth it.
